LevelUp integrating with major POS makers

LevelUp readerLast week, LevelUp offered a white label solution to merchants, making it easier for them to integrate the company's payment platform with the merchants' own apps. That's all well and good but it still left merchants dependent upon LevelUp's payment terminals to scan the 2D barcodes LevelUp uses to link an account to a credit or debit card. For many restaurants and retailers, another piece of equipment to deal with is a non-starter; there's simply no room in crowded bars or countertops to stick a LevelUp scanner.

Today, LevelUp is addressing that issue. The company announced it will be integrating its service with three major POS makers: MICROS, POSitouch and Dinerware. With the integration, merchants using POS terminals and barcode scanners from those manufacturers can choose to accept LevelUp and process those transactions right on their existing equipment. No new equipment needed.

That's a significant number of POS terminals that can accept LevelUp. Integration with equipment from any one of those manufacturers would have been a big deal; they all enjoy a significant portion of the restaurant market. But altogether, LevelUp said MICROS, POSitouch and Dinerware own 30 percent of all POS systems on the market.

"Integrating with MICROS, POSitouch and Dinerware, three of the largest point of sale companies in the country, is a huge opportunity for LevelUp," said LevelUp VP of Partner Development Christina Dorobek, in the announcement. "Our strategy is to seamlessly work with the existing systems our merchants use every day, so LevelUp not only becomes easy for the consumer to use, but also ultra-simple for the merchant to introduce."

Additionally, merchants who decide to accept LevelUp on their existing equipment still pay no transaction fees — only paying a percentage on incremental sales from campaigns run through LevelUp — and can access LevelUp's marketing and analytics tools.

"LevelUp brings real value in the form of campaigns, and now merchants will easily be able to track this data within their existing POS system," Dorobek said.
