Kuapay announces integration with major U.S. restaurant POS makers

Mobile payment company Kuapay is getting in good with some restaurant POS makers, announcing its solution is now integrated with offerings from Micros, Dinerware and POSitouch. The company said the move means it's now compatible with "cash registers" already installed at stores, cafes and restaurants in the U.S.

"This is a ground-breaking development for the payment space and consumers alike," said company CEO Joaquin Ayuso de Paul."Kuapay’s truly complete integration with these broadly installed point of sale systems enables another segment of merchants to finally accept mobile payments."

The integration with these major POS providers means the large installed base of merchants using their solutions can now accept Kuapay at the table, counter, or checkout line directly from customers’ smartphones, the company said, meaning reduced transaction times and wait staff trips from the table to the point of sale. Additionally, consumer fraud and employee theft are reduced and merchants can access customer analytics provided by Kuapay.

"Consumers want a fast, easy, and safe payment solution that takes advantage of the thing they always have with them: their smartphone," de Paul said. "Merchants want an integrated point of sale solution that supports all forms of payments and doesn’t cause a back office nightmare."

Based in Santa Monica, Calif., Kuapay has launched its services through a large U.S. KFC franchise as well as a local coffee shop in New York City. It also has a presence in Latin America and Europe. The company announced it had raised $4 million in venture funding last July.
