Global digital security provider Giesecke & Devrient is providing its SmartTrust Mobile Transaction Gateway to the mobile payment solution launched by PayPal and Brazilian mobile network operator Vivo. The gateway will ensure that transactions are executed securely.

The new mobile payment solution, launched last year in Brazil, allows Vivo customers with prepaid accounts to top up their accounts directly on their cellphone via PayPal.

Using the mobile payment service, customers can add funds anytime without having to purchase a recharge card during store business hours. The technology is compatible with all types of cellphones and doesn't require users to download any additional applications. 

Backend servers for the mobile payment solution are hosted and managed by G & D as well.
