FreshBooks wants to help small businesses with Android mPOS device

FreshBooks, a cloud accounting software designed exclusively for service-based small business owners, has announced the release of the FreshBooks Card Reader for Android. The company earlier this year released a separate device for iOS, according to a press release.

FreshBooks' device can read EMV cards, but not contactless payments.

"Chasing checks is never fun and there's enough to worry about when you're running your own business," said Mike McDerment, co-founder and CEO of FreshBooks. "Whether you're a plumber, lawyer, graphic designer or dog walker – getting paid for your work shouldn't be a hassle, and it shouldn't come with risk to your business. The FreshBooks Card Reader is designed to make it simpler than ever before to quickly and securely accept credit cards from your clients on the go."

FreshBooks said the card reader is fully integrated into FreshBooks' cloud-based accounting software, so with each transaction, payment information is automatically captured; invoices are instantly marked as paid, clients receive a payment notification, and reports are updated.
