Flint Mobile intros new app features

Team Accounts feature enables multiple users within an organization to use a single Flint account to accept payments, create invoices and send Apple Passbook coupons from their smartphone.

Mobile payment service Flint Mobile Thursday announced the addition of a Team Accounts feature that enables multiple users within an organization to use a single Flint account to accept payments, create invoices and send Apple Passbook coupons from their smartphone, according to a press release.

The upgrade gives business owners control over user privileges, provides individual as well as rollup reporting, and leverages Flint's no-extra-hardware-needed technology to deliver the market's only team solution that does not rely on external readers to take card payments, according to the announcement. That in turn eliminates the need to distribute hardware and avoids the risk of missing a sale if a card reader is lost or broken.

The company also introduced its application update for iOS8, available immediately as a free download on the AppStore.

The new Flint Team Accounts feature – available for both iOS and Android devices – enhances Flint's mobile business management capabilities for small businesses operating outside traditional storefronts, according to the announcement. Flint secures and streamlines team use by providing:

  • Instant team member activation – no waiting for additional approval or hardware
  • Separate login credentials and account permissions for each user
  • Owner-only access to bank account information and reporting by user
  • The ability to enable or disable transaction features for team members
  • Real time publishing of all merchant customizations and updates to the team, including itemization of business services, receipt design, coupon creation and more
  • Automatic data sync across iPhone and Android platforms, supporting mixed-device environments

The Team Accounts introduction is part of Flint's roadmap to enable mobile business productivity beyond payment transactions, according to the announcement. In June, the company launched its QuickBooks Online integration that eliminates manual mobile payments data entry by automatically syncing all Flint-based mobile transactions, line items and customer information with QuickBooks Online accounts. In late 2013, Flint introduced couponing via Apple Passbook and said in the announcement is the only company in the category that enables small businesses to leverage Apple's emerging wallet platform for loyalty offers.

"We continually receive inquiries from businesses with multiple employees who want to know if Flint can support more than single-user accounts. They need a team-wide mobile payment solution that can securely manage all transactions in one place with all activity flowing through the company bank account," Flint co-founder and CEO Greg Goldfarb said in a statement. "With Flint Team Accounts, we are able to serve this new segment of the small business market and offer complete freedom from card reader hassles that are multiplied in a team environment."
