Fiserv touts new tablet banking solution

Fiserv Inc., which provides financial services technology solutions, has launched a turnkey application service provider solution for iPads and iPad minis. The new app, dubbed Mobiliti: Tablet, will let users pay bills and make person-to-person payments and mobile deposits, the company said. An Android version is expected next year.

The app includes an ATM and branch locator and built-in calendar and calculator functions, as well as integrated customer care and diagnostic tools to allow financial institutions to streamline management of the solution, along with security measures that complement the FI's existing framework, according to a news release.

According to the 2012 Consumer Trends Survey from Fiserv, nearly half of tablet owners have already used their device to access banking services, and almost two-thirds of future tablet owners would like to do so, the company said.

"Research has shown tablet banking users are more engaged than other mobile banking users, as they use digital channels more frequently and consume a larger number of financial services," Bradley Scott, Fiserv vice president of mobile solutions, said in the release. "With Mobiliti: Tablet, financial institutions can quickly bring tablet banking to market, meeting the needs of existing customers through a lower cost channel, while attracting new customers who find this technology appealing."
