Digital receipts help small retailer build loyalty

Loyal Army Clothing, a small business in San Francisco,  is using digital receipts technology from Proximiant to build tighter relationships with customers, according to a story on ZDNet.

Proximiant's transceiver peripheral plugs into a store's POS system that communicates with a small tag to load information about a customer's purchase. The customer can access that information later on his computer through a Proximiant Web account. The Proximiant solution works with mobile phones that have NFC capabilities.

How it works
The customer taps the phone on the receiver, and the information is loaded, regardless of how the transaction is completed. So, the customer doesn't have to make a mobile payment to receive a digital receipt.

As it delivers the receipt, the application also allows retailers to reward customers with promotional offers.
