Cumberland Building Society extends relationship with Alaric, NCR

The U.K.'s Cumberland Building Society has deployed the U.K. Payments Council’s Paym mobile payment service using Authentic and Fractals software from Alaric, an NCR company.

Paym lets consumers make payments to account holders of other participating institutions using just the recipient’s mobile phone number. Cumberland Building Society is among the first FIs in the U.K. to offer the service.

Authentic provides the payments platform used by CBS to support Paym, while Fractals provides PA-DSS certified intelligent fraud detection and prevention.

“Improving our customer experience by adding value when they bank with us is at the heart of Cumberland Building Society’s strategy,” said Gary Richardson, GM for IT at Cumberland Building Society. “Smartphones are omnipresent, so it was an easy decision to adopt the Paym service. Equally easy was the decision to extend our relationship with NCR and the Alaric team to ensure that our customers’ Paym mobile payments are efficiently run and carefully protected by Authentic and Fractals.”

CBS already uses Alaric Authentic and Fractals solutions for its ATM, Internet banking and now mobile payment channels, and in other customer transactions that travel over the LINK ATM network or use the CBS’s Visa debit cards.
