Chicago Transit Authority to add mobile app
Mobile payments won't be available until early 2016.
The Chicago Transit Authority this week announced it will introduce a mobile app for its Ventra system in the first half of 2015, according to multiple reports.
The CTA said it will roll out the app in phases. The first phase next year will include typical account maintenance features such as reloads, balances and transaction history. The authority will later add a multi-agency tracking feature that will enable commuters to keep tabs on commuter rails and buses for the Chicago area's suburban transit bodies.
Commuters will not be able to make payments with the app until early 2016.
