Cellum to supply mobile wallet tech to Indonesian smart device-maker

Cellum will develop and operate ECPAY, a mobile wallet that enables consumers to use it for bill payment, prepaid phone account top-up, peer-to-peer funds transfers, QR-code payments and online checkout.

Cellum this past week announced that Evercross, an Indonesia-based smartphone and tablet manufacturer, has chosen it to provide mobile payment technology for new devices, according to a press release.

Under the terms of the agreement, Cellum will develop and operate Ecpay, a mobile wallet that enables consumers to use it for bill payment, prepaid phone account top-up, peer-to-peer funds transfers, QR-code payments and online checkout.

Evercoss will preinstall Ecpay on up to 3 million of the mobile devices it manufactures annually, according to the announcement. The manufacturer said it also will promote the wallet throughout Indonesia with a major marketing campaign as well as through its network of 50,000 resellers.

"Evercoss is thrilled with this opportunity, which will give more reasons for Indonesian consumers to use our products, and benefit their own commercial activities," Evercoss COO and Cofounder Sony Wangsa Putra said in a statement. "A partnership with Cellum is a strategic jumpstart for a local smartphone manufacturer like Evercoss, a step into the future that will give us more sustainable growth that will, at the same time, offer tremendous benefit to the entire ecosystem."
