Barclaycard tests Alipay acceptance in UK stores
Barclaycard is reportedly launching a pilot in the U.K. that will enable merchants there to accept Alipay, the popular Chinese mobile wallet, in their stores, according to a report from Banking Technology.
The pilot starts today and will involve eight retail locations throughout the U.K. Barclaycard is providing the test merchants with the point-of-sale technology necessary to accept Alipay.
Barclaycard expects a broader rollout at some point, but said the pilot will continue into 2018, according to the report.
