Bank of America adds budgeting tool, nearby deal-finder to mobile banking app

Bank of America has unveiled several; updates to its mobile app, including a financial wellness tool, to further personalize the customer experience, according to a press release.

"These newest offerings are all about connecting to the unique needs and personal goals of the more than 21 million mobile users we serve," Michelle Moore, head of digital banking at Bank of America, said in the release. "We recognize that for each individual, gaining control over their financial lives and making finances simpler and easier to manage means something different, and we are committed to providing customers the tailored solutions they want to make their financial lives better."

The BofA financial wellness tool will be integrated with Better Money Habits and is being rolled out through January for mobile and online banking users. The tool incorporates a dynamic income and spending comparison, outlines spending trends up to the past 13 months, and enables users to easily set budgets by offering the option for one to be automatically created based on past behavior or allowing the user to build it themselves. according to the announcement.

Another feature, My Balance, lets users check their bank balances without signing in. Once enrolled in the service, customers can designate which account balances to show on their mobile banking home page and can easily change their selections or turn the feature on and off.

A third feature, Deals Near Me, directs  customers to merchants participating in this BofA loyalty  program. Customers who patronize Deals Near Me-affiliated merchants earn 15 percent cash back by using their Bank of America debit or credit card for transactions, according to the announcement. 

Additional mobile enhancements provide customers the ability to view and download e-statements; manage paperless settings; and immediately access check images after making mobile check deposits. The upgraded features allow users to save, print or email e-statement and check images for their records, according to the announcement.
