Bango and Orange bring direct carrier billing to Facebook in France

French wireless operator Orange has announced that it will offer Facebook's mobile payment option, allowing users to buy online services via their mobile devices. Powered by Bango's direct carrier billing services, the option lets Facebook users put their purchases on their monthly Orange bill.

Bango already offers similar services to Facebook users in the U.K., but this partnership marks the first carrier in France to offer the Facebook users a direct carrier billing option for mobile purchases.

"I am proud of this partnership with Facebook, which once again demonstrates the attractiveness of operator billing solutions. It is a great success for Orange which is dedicated to providing users with the best online purchasing experience, irrespective of the handset used,” said Hélène ViotPoirier, head of portals at Orange.

Like other direct carrier billing solutions, Bango lets consumers skip the laborious process of entering credit or debit card information when buying digital goods. Instead, they simply select the direct carrier billing option. A text message to their device alerts them to approve the purchase and the transaction is completed with two clicks.

In addition to making purchasing easier for consumers, the new partnership means developers have access to a simpler purchase method, for increased sales conversions, and they will also gain access to any type of mobile device through support for HTML5.
