Bangkok Bank upgrades mobile banking with Mobiliti Edge

Bangkok Bank has upgraded its mobile banking, alerting and payments service with Mobiliti Edge, Fiserv's mobile banking and payment product for international markets. The bank had been using an older Fiserv-supported system that was launched in 2009.

With Mobiliti Edge, customers will be able to access their financial information and conduct transactions via mobile web pages and downloadable apps for Android devices, the iPhone, BlackBerry and iPad, Fiserv said. They will also be able to check balances; review transaction history; locate ATMs and branches; transfer funds; pay people and bills; and top up prepaid accounts in both English and Thai.

Because most of the activation process can be completed from smartphones, the service is accessible to the bank's broad customer base and not only to online banking users, Fiserv said.

"We are deploying a reliable platform that can expand to support more users and more services, so we can effectively address the anticipated growth and changes that the mobile channel will bring to our bank," Chartsiri Sophonpanich, Bangkok Bank's president, said in a statement.

Mobiliti supports mobile financial services for 1,800 financial institutions in North America, Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East and Europe, Fiserv says. It is available in both licensed and hosted versions.

Bangkok Bank is the largest bank in Thailand, with 17 million customer accounts.
