Apriva SDK gives POS software developers path to emerging payments acceptance

The SDK enables Android and iOS developers to support EMV, NFC and a wide array of the latest payment options, including Apple Pay, via their apps by connecting to Apriva’s secure payment gateway.

Apriva, a provider of secure end-to-end wireless transaction and information products, today announced the release of a new software development kit that enables point-of-sale developers to integrate payment acceptance capabilities into new and existing mobile applications, according to a press release.

The SDK enables Android and iOS developers to support EMV, NFC and a wide array of the latest payment options — including Apple Pay — via their apps by connecting to Apriva’s secure payment gateway.

"Consumers are showing increased interest in making purchases via their mobile devices leading many businesses to turn to this platform," Brian Sadowski, chief information officer at Apriva, said in a statement. "Unfortunately, accepting payments and integrating them into an application can be a daunting task because of the numerous options that exist. Developers connecting to our gateway will immediately gain access to the most extensive list of payment options and processor choices available with a single integration, enabling them to meet the needs of a broader pool of customers and ensuring they don’t miss a sale because they can’t support the latest technology."

Apriva said that it enables developers to get up and running quickly via its dedicated support team for integrations, SDK documentation, certification environment for development and testing, and self-service portal. The company said the mobile SDK gives developers greater choice through XML integration which supports C#, Java, and PHP applications.

The mobile SDK also delivers support for a wide variety of payment processing needs including for manually entered or swiped cards, cash and check recording, as well as for sales, partial sales, adjustments, refunds and reversal transactions, according to the announcement. In addition, following integration of the SDK and connection to the Apriva Gateway application, developers are provided with the ability to email receipts and view transaction histories. The offering supports end-to-end encryption from multiple hardware manufacturers.
