Amazon sneakily introduces barebones mobile wallet app
Amazon Wallet appeared on the Amazon Appstore and Google Play store late last week, but a number of Android fan blogs are just noticing it exists.
Amazon's new app, which is a beta version, does not support mobile payments, but enables users to store loyalty and gift cards in a single place. Users can either scan or type in the card's number to transfer information to the app. Amazon then converts the information into a digital format, which can be a barcode, QR code, text or image, according to multiple reports.
Users also can manage their cards online at www.amazon.com/wallet.
