Alipay expands US reach with North American Bancard, Poynt deals

Alipay continues to spread its acceptance footprint in the U.S. to the benefit of Chinese tourists as the mobile wallet provider announced two separate deals Thursday with mobile point-of-sale provider Poynt and North American Bancard.

Alipay's deal with Poynt brings the wallet's acceptance to merchants using the device across North America, according to a press release.

"Given all the capabilities built into Poynt's hardware and software, and its agnostic approach to acquirers, we will be able to deliver a truly integrated payment solution for retailers, as well as the simple payment experience our users are accustomed to," Souheil Badran, president of Alipay North America, said in the release.

As for the North American Bancard agreement, Alipay is now available on North American Bancard's wholly owned Electronic Payment Exchange processing platform through a variety of NAB owned products, including gateways, terminals and mobile payment solutions.
