A better burger experience through mPOS

Infinite Peripherals and Digital Dining help a Chicago restaurant streamline the ordering process.

Mobile point-of-sale device provider Infinite Peripherals Inc. has teamed with Digital Dining to deliver a mobile POS product to Butcher and the Burger, a Chicago-based specialty "build your own burger" restaurant, according to a press release.

Using DD Mobile Digital Dining software along with the Infinite Peripherals Infinea Tab 2 device for the Apple iPad 2, the restaurant said in the press release it has cut its line times in half, improved customer service and developed a more streamlined reporting process.

"We approached Digital Dining and Infinite Peripherals because we wanted an mPOS system based on iPad technology, and they delivered the best system when it comes to customized orders," Butcher and the Burger General Manager Preston Owen said in a statement. "Our menu is based upon 'building your own burger,' so we needed a flexible POS system with many options for order customization all on one screen. We’ve worked with other systems, and this was the only one that allowed us to give customers the exact orders they want without having to communicate too much with the kitchen about what’s not on the ticket, allowing us to service our clientele quickly and efficiently."

The DD Mobile software and Infinea Tab provide Butcher and the Burger with an interface that enables the restaurant to customize orders properly and easily read them back to customers, ensuring order accuracy, according to the announcement. For example, an "instructions" option can be used for requests such as "light salt" or "do not toast bread."

Although orders normally are taken at the counter, staff can process them from customer tables via the mPOS-enabled iPad, as needed.

The Digital Dining/Infinite Peripherals mPOS system also has a reporting analytics tool which tracks hourly/daily sales, inventory, employee clock-ins/clock-outs, labor reports, pay periods and more, according to the press release.
