Barclaycard traces the history of money

July 25, 2011

Barclaycard is having some fun with contactless payments. The U.K. bank has released a new "mockumentary" tracing the history of money from prehistoric barter to Barclaycard's own recently launched Quick Tap mobile payment program. The video is directed by British television director Dominic Brigstock.

The video is part of a larger, ongoing effort by Barclaycard to familiarize consumers with the convenience of contactless mobile payments using near field communications (NFC) technologies, and spur adoption of Quick Tap in the U.K. The effort includes a website that features some irreverent factoids about money and payments over time, and explores Barclaycards contributions to payments. The website URL is http://barclaycard.co.uk/dinosaurmilk. (The "dinosaurmilk" subdomain makes more sense after viewing the video.)
